Tiova Rotacap: Advanced Bronchodilation for COPD Relief

Tiova Rotacap is a prescription medication designed for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It contains Tiotropium Bromide, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that works by relaxing the muscles around the airways, making breathing easier. This inhaler device is engineered for precision and consistency, helping patients manage symptoms, reduce exacerbations, and improve overall lung function. It is a cornerstone in COPD management protocols, trusted by pulmonologists for its efficacy and reliability in daily respiratory care.

Features

  • Contains Tiotropium Bromide 18 mcg per rotacap
  • Delivered via a Rotahaler device for efficient pulmonary absorption
  • Long-acting formulation provides 24-hour bronchodilation
  • Dry powder inhaler (DPI) system, propellant-free
  • Pre-measured single-dose capsules ensure accurate dosing
  • Compact, portable design for ease of use anywhere
  • Protective foil packaging to maintain stability and potency

Benefits

  • Sustained relief from breathlessness, coughing, and wheezing
  • Reduces frequency and severity of COPD exacerbations
  • Enhances exercise tolerance and overall quality of life
  • Minimizes the need for rescue inhalers
  • Supports long-term airway patency and lung health
  • Easy-to-use device promotes treatment adherence

Common use

Tiova Rotacap is indicated for the long-term, once-daily maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is not intended for immediate relief of acute bronchospasm.

Dosage and direction

The recommended dosage is the contents of one Tiova Rotacap (18 mcg Tiotropium Bromide) inhaled orally once daily, at the same time each day, using the Rotahaler device. Do not swallow the capsule. Pierce the capsule only once and inhale the powder deeply and steadily. Rinse the mouth with water after each use to minimize the risk of oropharyngeal side effects.

Precautions

  • Not for use in the treatment of acute episodes of bronchospasm.
  • Use with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, or bladder-neck obstruction.
  • May cause paradoxical bronchospasm; discontinue immediately if it occurs.
  • Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance ≤30 mL/min).
  • Keep out of reach of children and individuals without a prescription.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Tiotropium Bromide, atropine or its derivatives, or any component of the formulation.

Possible side effects

Common side effects may include dry mouth, constipation, cough, nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, and urinary retention. Less frequently, blurred vision, glaucoma, tachycardia, and paradoxical bronchospasm may occur. Seek medical attention if any severe or persistent reactions develop.

Drug interaction

Concurrent use with other anticholinergic-containing drugs may potentiate adverse effects. Exercise caution when administering with drugs that are excreted renally or affect renal function. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications, including over-the-counter products and supplements.

Missed dose

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered, unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one. Resume the regular dosing schedule.

Overdose

Overdose may lead to intensified anticholinergic effects such as dry mouth, visual disturbances, tachycardia, and difficulty in micturition. Symptomatic and supportive treatment is advised. Specific antidotes are not available; seek immediate medical attention.

Storage

Store below 25°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep the capsules in the original blister pack until immediately before use. Do not expose to extreme temperatures or humidity. Discard any unused capsules past the expiration date.
